The group fell into the Rio de le Verona canal when the boat capsized, as the gondolier tried to maneuver the boat under a bridge. According to local media, the gondolier had been repeatedly telling them to sit down and stop taking selfies, when all the weight ended up on one side of the boat. No one was hurt in the accident. According to Venice police, the group swam safely to the canal bank and then sought refuge at La Fenice theatre.
